As we’ve mentioned in our newsletters and on social media, we both moved this summer. Kristi is still based in Kansas City but I (Carolyn) moved just north of Columbus Ohio. In our August 6th newsletter we gave you a peek at the chaos of my new workshop. It was dark, ugly and uninspiring. Now that my new workshop is organized and has proper lighting we thought it would be fun to share some pictures. If you have a dimly lit uninspiring work space hopefully we can give you some cost-effective ideas on how to make it a fun happy space.
I was very sad to lose my natural light that I had in Kansas City, along with the curious wild rabbit who liked to watch me work. My new workshop is located in an unfinished portion of our basement. Fortunately the foundation was white so no painting required. We added two LED shop lights (one over each table) from Menards. The one over my tool bench (bottom right) is 7000 Lumens and the one over my work table (top left) is 5000 Lumens. These lights cost less than $20 each and are seriously bright!
The white pegboard is also a game changer. We bought it at Menards for around $15 per 4’x8′ sheet. It brightens the room and allows me to hang my favorite art, supplies and some tools. I purchased the magnetic tool holder (bottom middle photo) at Harbour Freight for $4.99. The carpet under my work table (upper middle photo) is a tightly woven basic 5X7 area carpet from Home Depot. It cost me $19.99.
I also used the pegboard to display some happy art. The upper right hand photo is my Carolyn Bot created by my friend Rebecca at The Bot Connection especially for me. Bot Carolyn is sitting and reading, with her tool box and a pile of books close by. So very accurate. I also love the word Joy – it appears a in several pie
ces of art that I own. The word joy on the bottom left hand corner photo was cut from upcycled books.
We are always inspired by other peoples work spaces. We’d love to see yours! We’d love it if you would send a picture to us via email at info@hangupsjewelry.com.
We are in the final stages of preparing for Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival in Franklin TN. If you are going to be in Nashville September 21st & 22nd check it out.
